International Conference "Mind, Medicine & Morals: The ethics of psychiatry and mental health care"

This summer, the Anscombe Bioethics Centre will be holding an international conference, Mind, Medicine & Morals: The ethics of psychiatry and mental health care

St Anne's College, Oxford, from 5-7 July 2018.

It is a truism that mental health care does not receive the attention or resources devoted to care of physical health. This applies not only to clinical services and research but also to research and reflection on medical ethics and law. Hence, this conference seeks to redress this imbalance by exploring topics such as resource allocation and mental health, the ethics of research in psychiatry, compulsory treatment of mental illness, assisted suicide for psychiatric reasons and the mental health effects of sexual abuse. We warmly invite you to join us for this event.

We have also published a Call for Papers for graduate students and early career academics/professionals, who are invited to submit abstracts for papers on any topic relating to the ethics of psychiatry and mental health care (broadly construed). We are pleased to announce that the deadline for submitting abstracts has been extended to 28 February 2018.
